College football pick'em: Power 4, Group of 5, and big slates
How college football weeks are scored, why Power 4 games count double, and how to handle a 60-game Saturday.
College football is the biggest weekly slate on Pickem League, often 55 to 60 games involving FBS teams. That size is what makes it fun, and what makes it different from the NFL.
Power 4 and Group of 5
Games involving a Power 4 team โ ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, or SEC โ count double. Games between Group of 5 teams (and games against FCS schools without a Power 4 team) count at the normal rate. The Picks page lists Power 4 games first and can filter to just Power 4, just Group of 5, or a single conference.
Handling a big slate
Sixty picks a week can feel like a lot. A few ways to make it manageable:
- Start with Power 4 games โ they're worth double, so that's where your points are.
- Use the conference filter to work through the slate one conference at a time.
- Give quick, low-confidence picks to games you know little about rather than skipping them. A low number risks little, and picking every game earns the full-slate bonus.
- If your league uses a curated slate, only those games count there โ the filter on the Picks page shows exactly which.
Bowl season and the playoff
When the regular season ends, the College Football Playoff gets its own bracket: pick every round, with points growing as the rounds go on, and a bonus for the most correct picks overall.
